All proceeds benefit Equi-Ed Therapeutic Equestrian Program. Start saving up household items and horse tack in good usable condition to donate. Drop off times can be arranged by calling or emailing. Shoppers: We already have a ton of tack that has been saved up all year. English and western saddle pads, western and english saddles, bits, reins, bridles, grooming equipment, blankets, halters, boots and a whole lot more! We offer bargain prices. JULY 2010 4: Calistoga 4th of July Parade Sign up to be part of Equi-Ed's float or come watch and cheer us on! 22-25: NARHA Registered Instructor Workshop and Certification, Santa Rosa, CA 22, 23, 24: Workshop 25: Certification Lead Evaluator: Chris McParland, NARHA Master Instructor Assistant Evaluators: Maxine Freitas, Jodi Wong, NARHA Advanced Instructors This workshop is appropriate for anyone interested in therapeutic riding or who may be considering becoming an instructor for students with special needs. The two days will feature classroom time and hands on learning. Participants will receive training in lesson planning, rider position, mounting and dismounting, horse selection, disabilities served, equipment selection and more. Certification is open to qualified candidates only. For more information on the certification process please visit http://www.narha.org/Programs/Certification.asp. Workshops costs are $395, certification is $275, and $650 if you register for both. Lunch is included on Thursday and Friday, July 22-23. The registration deadline is June 20th. For additional information, email Sheila. 26-29: Horses Are My Friends Camp Equi-Ed Therapeutic Riding program of Santa Rosa offers to children with special needs ages 6+ the opportunity to learn about horses. Arts and crafts, making horse treats, playing horse games, and spending time with the horses are a part of each day. Cost: $150.00. 4 day session, Monday-Thursday 1:30-3:30 p.m. Contact Sheila for more information. The following form is required for registration: Student Packet 26-30: The Learning Barn at Equi-Ed The Learning Barn at Equi-Ed offers a mainstream educational and horse experience to children with differing abilities ages 6-14. Students will be involved in daily activities such as riding, vaulting, driving and horse care, individualized to meet their abilities. Each day of the week will have a different academic focus (math, language arts, science, history and art) and how it applies to the study of horses. Academic topics are taught by a credentialed teacher, horse related activities taught by certified riding instructors. The most special teachers are the wonderful horses and ponies who are used regularly in our therapeutic riding program. Come join this unique, fun and challenging experience! The following form is required for registration: Student Packet 27-30: Introduction to Equestrian Vaulting Vaulting provides the opportunity for children to learn about horses, improve balance and flexibility, build strength and confidence, develop fine and gross motor skills and more in a safe, fun and educational environment. Course taught by nationally certified instructor. Cost: $200.00. 4 day session, Tuesday-Friday, 10:30 a.m.-12:30 p.m., ages 4 to 14. Contact Sheila for more information.
